A Yubeng Trek Beneath Meili Snow Mountain

A Yubeng trek takes you from Shangri-La toward Meili Snow Mountain and then into the mountain village of Yubeng. The journey starts gently: a transfer past Jinsha River Moon Bay leads to an evening at Meili. The next morning, you watch for the first light on the snow peaks before visiting Qudengge for a sang offering and prayer. Then the walking begins from Ninong Village.
Yubeng gives this five-day journey its physical heart. You hike into the village, walk the Sacred Waterfall route and return on foot toward Ninong. The itinerary asks for sustained effort across three consecutive trekking days, but its rhythm also leaves room to attend to the places you pass through. A final visit to Dongzhulin Monastery on the return to Shangri-La closes a route shaped by mountain scenery, pilgrimage practice and time on the trail.

DAY 1: Shangri-La to Meili

Meet your transfer at the airport or station in Shangri-La. On the way to Meili, pass Jinsha River Moon Bay before arriving at the hotel. The first day is for reaching the mountain setting and settling in ahead of the trek.

1. the average altitude in Yunnan is 1894 meters. Kunming: 1890 meters. Dali: 2050 meters. Lijiang: 2400 meters, Jade Dragon Mountain: 4506 meters. Shangri-La: 3280 meters. We strongly suggest our consumers thoroughly prepare for high-altitude reactions and intense ultraviolet rays. By preparing these, you can take high-altitude reaction medicines or bring some Oxygen Can before you depart.

2. If you suffer any diseases, please advise your doctor before you depart.

3. We don’t suggest our guests take showers in the first two days in a high-altitude area. If they get cold, it may easily lead to pulmonary edema and encephaloma.
