Why We Recommend This Experience
At the heart of our Travel Building Blocks is a commitment to the real Dali. Unlike many other agencies, we never subcontract our daily experiences to third-party providers.
We have sourced and partnered with local Bai artisans and traditional family workshops directly. This ensures that your visit is truly authentic, locally connected, and provides a direct benefit to the local communities—staying true to our core values. We recommend this workshop because it offers a hands-on connection to a craft that has defined the Bai identity for over a thousand years.
The Art of Indigo and Thread
Journey to a traditional Bai courtyard—often in the historic village of Zhoucheng—to learn the ancient art of Zha Ran (tie-dying). This is a slow, meditative process that transforms plain white cloth into intricate patterns using nothing but thread, patience, and natural indigo.
